It was a great night and most dispiriting afterwards to find that a lot of my photos of this event are out of focus and I can’t blame my camera – it was just that I was so nervous I was actually shaking! So I do apologise to the folks in theses pics that they aren’t better. Kath organised this – thanks Kath! and made the introductions and a very nice tribute to one of our poets who died earlier this year, William Dexter Wade. We had the wife Peggy and daughter Kaitlin of poet Kent Reed there. It was lovely to meet them. At this point they were engaged in writing a line for our group poem 🙂 Dave Morehouse and his wife Julie travelled all the way down from the Upper Penninsula to be with us for the launch and Dave didn’t realise until he got there, he’d have to read for his supper but he did so well we fed him. Luann and Galin’s son Andrew Jones provided lemon squares and brownies. Thank you Andrew! 🙂 Mmmmmmmmmmmm!
What I find remarkable still, is that Kath and I met and had worked together only on the internet and yet such a depth of friendship developed that when we got together we didn’t talk much about poetry at all. We talked about all manner of other stuff and got on really well (just as well since she was stuck with me for two weeks) but you can tell from this photo… It’s probably because Kath is so easy to get along with, upbeat and sweet so she balances my somewhat commudgeonly pessimistic sourness – sweet ‘n’ sour Poets 🙂
Thanks to everyone for coming along and making such a great memory!
