Why not start at the top? State Capitol to be precise — and the Minnepolis Capitol is impressive not only because of the quality of the marble but the quality of the guided tour. Our man appreciated not just the buildings and art works but revered the history of the state — all of it — even the bad bits — and he knew his stuff. I learned a lot about Father Hennepin and bundles of reeds and cigarette smoke damage and the comparative artistic merits of Republican and Democrat portraiture! I didn’t brave the spiral staircase to see the golden horses but I had a very nice chat with some visitors from New York. Seems New Yorkers are ‘nice’ too 🙂
