Nineteen miles to the Cumberland Arms
Nineteen miles to the Cu………umberland Arms
So you get the picture – I’m in performance mode 🙂 Well I was at Poetry Jack’s evening at the Cumberland Arms Newcastle upon Tyne last night and it inspired me.
Never been before but (my friend) Amanda Baker (that’s how she introduced me to someone else) was performing and I wanted to go support her so my lovely hubby generously drove. I say generously because this pub has around 12 Real Ales on tap at any time and he was only going to be able to sample two half pints 😦 (I’ll make it up to him – one night we’ll go there and shell out on a taxi back!)
I’m not going to mention one person’s performance above the others (apart from my friend Amanda who is AMAZING ALWAYS.) They were all brilliant in my book 🙂
Suffice to say it’s a really great way to spend an evening, wonderfulo atmosphere, what looks like very good food, Noel tells me good beer too. Show 8 til 10:30 roughly (we had to leave before the last act unfortunately – I mean it was 19 miles home 😦 ) Certainly will be going again.
As to actually reading any poems there well – this has lights and a mic… A bit intimidating really – we’ll see – if I ever feel brave enough or think I have material entertaining enough… I mean I wouldn’t want to get booed off or anything!
Maybe I’ll run some past Poetry Jack – see what she thinks 😉
